Intra-Satellite Delay
Final “routes in the sky” still open
Assumed ISLs:
- To forward and backward satellite
- To left and right neighbor
Notes:
Final routing / ISLs
afffect strongly end-to-end delay for long distance calls
not apliable for „single-hop-scenarios“ ==> right now not included
Simulation based delays:
STK used
walker orbits: 12 planes, 6 satellites per plane
distance measured ==> plotted: distance / speed-of-light
forward delay const.
next-neighbor delay:
in between 11.5ms and 15ms
period: 40 minutes
==> change of 4.5ms in 40 minutes
==> 1/4 of uplink-delay variation
Final routing might change gained simulation results as:
order of final delay variation uncertain (Up-& Downlink major factor?)
order of total delay comparable to long-fat-pipe problem=> well known
